Patina Studio

Patina Studio is a New York City conservation practice focused on the restoration of paintings and religious icons, with treatment work carried out through close examination, written proposals, and documented conservation processes. The studio operates from an Upper East Side location, with most treatments performed in-studio and select work completed on-site when appropriate.

The practice is defined by its dual specialization in paintings and icon conservation, with icon treatment approached as a materially and contextually sensitive discipline. Core treatments include paint consolidation, structural repair of canvas and panel supports, retouching, and revarnishing, alongside reconstruction of damaged ground layers.

Each project follows a structured workflow that includes consultation, condition assessment, and formal treatment reporting with photographic documentation. Additional services such as condition surveys and artwork research support conservation decisions when needed.
