ScarpiniStudio

Art Conservation & Restoration

Painting conservation and restoration is the core of ScarpiniStudio’s practice, with a long New York-based career anchored in hands-on treatment of paintings on canvas and wood panel. The studio’s work spans examination, condition assessment, documentation, treatment, restoration, and preventive conservation, with particular strength in structural repair, cleaning, varnish removal, and reversible inpainting.

The practice reflects a broad historical range across modern and contemporary paintings, 19th-century works, and old masters. Maria Scarpini’s background combines Italian and New York institutional training with AIC membership and a treatment-centered studio model that also accommodates on-site work when required.

ScarpiniStudio works with museums, galleries, institutions, and private clients, and supports projects that begin with physical examination, treatment planning, or formal condition reporting. The studio is based in the South Bronx and serves the New York City area.
